Imagine what it would be like if the entire city was underwater. Well, that is exactly what it was like, a millions of years ago.
Follow Jaz and her dog Mericulous under the streets of Saint Louis, into the CAVE UNDER BENTON PARK.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
“Why did you stop?” Jaz asked her dog Mericulus.
Mericulus looked up at her with serious eyes. He started to walk away, then stopped and turned back. His eyes glared at the crack in the sidewalk. Jaz looked at him, then down at the sidewalk.
A gentle breeze pushed water over the edge of a nearby fountain. The water tricked down the sidewalk, towards the crack. Jaz watched the water disappeared into the crack. She knelt down and put her ear close to the crack. Jaz could hear water dripping down below the sidewalk. The drops echoed as they fell far beneath the street.
"Do you think there's a cave down there?" Jaz turned her head and looked at Mericulus.
Mericulus looked at her. He didn’t move. He just looked at her.

SUNPUNK JEWELRY AND LITERATURE
www.sunpunk.com
Professor Sung led them down a long corridor. It was well lit, with little white lights strung above their heads. They entered a square doorway similar to the one they saw under the Gateway Arch. On the other side was a dark room. In the center was a white marble slab with a huge telescope bolted to the slab.
“It’s not what you think” Professor Sung said. “It looks like a telescope but is actually a sun collector.”
Professor Sung pointed to a small hole in the ceiling of the cave.
“This solar collector is aimed at the sky. When the sun passes overhead sensors on the tip of the collector capture the sun’s energy." Professor Sung pointed at the bottom of the machine. "This is where it converts sun rays into energy. All the energy we need to power our society here is generated by this."

There were people selling everything. Food, clothing, housewares, bracelets, even tools. Nellie walked over to one of the tables. A girl, dressed in a lit-up solar panel dress, was selling Sunpunk earrings, necklaces and blinking solar buttons.
“I like these earrings.” Jaz said as she picked one up and examined its detail.
“It's in the shape of the sun. The sun is where our energy comes from.” Said the girl.
"And there is a "S" and a "P" etched into my jewelry."
"How cleaver," said Jaz. She held one of the earrings up to her ear.

FABLE: WHALE AND THE HAWK
On a clear, but windy day, a grey whale lost her way and drifted unknowingly toward the shore of Juneau Bay. Perched high on the branch of a giant pine tree, was a majestic sea hawk, He watched the whale approach the shoreline. The whale couldn't see her plight, but from the sky it was obvious. The hawk watched as the wind and waves gently pushed the whale dangerously towards it's doom.
